Sports Activities

There is an indoor sports hall with 1500 people capacity, tennis courts, basketball, handball, volleyball courts and soccer fields, running and walking tracks, a climbing wall, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, and a stadium in the international standard sports complex located in the campus.

Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, is one of the top selected universities in Turkey by the national athletes who have achieved important successes in Turkey and in the world. The universities’ sports facilities in international standards, universal climate, and transparent and fair special aptitude exams are the main reasons for successful athletes to study at the School of Physical Education and Sports of KMU.

Most recently, in the Rio 2016 Olympics where Turkey won eight medals, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University students brought three of them to our country. World Wrestling Champion Taha Akgul won his first Olympic gold medal in the Rio Olympics while KMU student Nur Tatar, a national taekwondo athlete, and national wrestler Soner Demirtaş won bronze medals in the Rio Olympics.

All chief wrestlers between the years 2007-2012 at historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling Tournament were Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University students. There are also numerous KMU students who won medals at World and European Wrestling, Taekwondo, Mountain Running, Kick Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai championships. In addition, the achievements of the KMU in national championships and collegiate team competitions make the university favourite for athletes.
