The Emergency and Disaster Management Program, located within the Department of Property Protection and Security, aims to train expert professionals who aim to increase the resilience capacity of societies against natural, man-made and technological disasters. The program provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge on reducing disaster risks, developing effective intervention methods and improving crisis management processes with an interdisciplinary approach.
Our curriculum has a structure that takes into account national needs and complies with universal standards, and aims to train individuals who can be leaders in the field of disaster management. The training program supports the creation of qualified human resources who can work in public institutions, the private sector and non-governmental organizations.
The main purpose of the program is to contribute to public safety by training individuals who have adopted a sustainable disaster management approach, are committed to ethical values, and can develop innovative solutions. In this direction, we act with the vision of building disaster-prepared, resilient, and sustainable societies; our students are provided with crisis management, leadership, and coordination skills.
Our program, which approaches all stages of the disaster cycle (risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery) with a holistic perspective, aims to contribute to disaster management literature through scientific research and to increase social awareness and consciousness. Thanks to the education model that prioritizes the effective use of technology, experts who can follow current developments and develop innovative applications are trained.
The Emergency and Disaster Management Program continues its education and training activities with an approach that encourages decision-making processes based on information, is based on cooperation and prioritizes social benefit. Our ultimate goal is to become a department that will contribute to building a safer and more resilient future against disasters and has gained respect at national and international levels.
