The Department of Educational Sciences consists of seven branches, namely Philosophical, Social and Historical Foundations of Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, Measurement and Evaluation in Education, Lifelong Learning and Adult Education, Instructional Technologies, Counselling and Psychological Counselling Branches.

The basic function of the Department of Educational Sciences is to give vocational teaching courses in undergraduate programs of education faculties, to implement in-service training programs for administrators and teachers in primary and secondary schools and also in other educational institutions, and to conduct research in the field of education.

 

Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling

 

The Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling started its educational activities by taking the first students in 2018 - 2019 academic year. In the program, field knowledge, general culture and practice courses are compulsory. Students also take elective courses.
Courses are carried out both theoretical and practical. The educational activities are carried out in a democratic and participatory environment, which is composed of the instructors who are specialized in their field and suitable for the developments and changes in the field.

The basic aim of the undergraduate and psychological counseling program is to provide the students with the necessary theoretical and practical aspects of the state and private sector, who are able to understand the 21st century paradigm, are aware of the problems of the changing world and people, to train psychological counselors.According to the general objectives of the program, the main objectives of the education and instruction activities are to educate effective psychological counselors who have gained personal awareness and understanding, have an open mind, are objective, competent, reliable, have social skills, have an ethical understanding and are sensitive to individual and cultural values. In addition, it is aimed to train professionally competent psychological counselors who are able to use the techniques of guidance and psychological counseling in an effective manner, know the individual, know and apply traditional and current psychological counseling theories and approaches, and develop guidance and psychological counseling programs.
