One of the faculty members of our department, Prof. Dr. Alaattin Uca, participated as a guest in the program “Akıl Defteri”, prepared and hosted by Adem Kocatürk on the H10tv YouTube channel, where he offered comprehensive evaluations on the lesser-known aspects of Kazım Karabekir Pasha, one of the most prominent figures in Turkish political and military history.

During the program, Prof. Dr. Uca first provided information about his academic studies on Karaman and its surrounding region, and subsequently examined the life and historical role of Kazım Karabekir Pasha from a multidimensional perspective. In this context, detailed attention was given to Karabekir Pasha’s birth name, Musa Kazım Karabekir, as well as his family background, educational life, and military training.

Furthermore, the program focused on the wars in which Karabekir Pasha took part, particularly his military activities during the Turkish War of Independence and his decisive role on the Eastern Front. His relationship with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, along with his contributions in both military and political spheres, was analyzed within its historical context. The discussion also addressed Karabekir Pasha’s parliamentary career following Atatürk’s death, including his service as a member of parliament and as Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, thereby shedding light on his political position during the Republican period.

Prof. Dr. Uca additionally emphasized Karabekir Pasha’s personal characteristics, his commitment to cultural and artistic activities, his social initiatives for orphaned children, and his scholarly works, underlining that he was not only a military commander and statesman but also an intellectual figure with a strong sense of social responsibility. The program concluded with a general assessment of Kazım Karabekir Pasha’s place and significance in Turkish history.
