Students from the Department of History at Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University achieved a significant success by participating in the “Intercollegiate Debate Competition in the Footsteps of Sheikh Edebali,” organized by the Historical Research Club of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University between April 30 and May 2.
At the event, students from Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University came together to present and debate their ideas. Representing our department, Abdullah Can Toksöz, Oğuzhan Tekinyer, and Yüksel İncegeliş participated in the competition under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Koç.
During the debates, students engaged in in-depth discussions on the life and ideas of Sheikh Edebali, one of the spiritual architects of the Ottoman State and the father-in-law of Osman I. With their outstanding performance throughout the event, our students attracted considerable attention and ultimately secured first place in the competition.
As part of the program, various awards were presented to the top-ranking students, and the Mayor of Söğüt was also visited during the event. Additionally, cultural and historical trips organized in Bilecik, Kırşehir, and Karaman helped reinforce the students’ academic knowledge.
We congratulate our valued students and their instructor for successfully representing our department and wish them continued success.
