In collaboration with the Faculty of Letters at Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University and the Mevlana Research Institute of Selçuk University, a panel titled “Hz. Mevlana and His Family from Karaman to Konya” was held.
The panel, organized at the Conference Hall of KMÜ Faculty of Letters, was moderated by KMÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İdris Nebi Uysal. Speakers included Prof. Dr. Nuri Şimşekler, Director of the Mevlana Research Institute at Selçuk University; Prof. Dr. Ali Temizel, Dean of the Faculty of Letters at Selçuk University; Associate Professor Mehmet Ali Kapar from the Department of History at KMÜ; and Associate Professor Seda Dilay from KMÜ Technical Sciences Vocational School.
The evaluation speech of the program was delivered by Dr. (hc.) Esin Çelebi Bayru, the 22nd-generation descendant of Mevlana and Vice President of the International Mevlana Foundation.
During the panel, various aspects of Mevlana’s life were discussed, including his arrival in Karaman with his family, the years he spent there, his family’s life in Karaman, the significance of Karaman in Mevlana’s life, and the socio-cultural conditions of Karaman and Konya during his era. Attention was also drawn to the historical and spiritual importance of the Aktekke Mosque and its surroundings, popularly known as “Mader-i Mevlana.”
The speakers emphasized that Karaman was not only a historical stop but also one of the important centers where Mevlana’s intellectual and spiritual world was shaped. The panel, which attracted great interest from participants, concluded with a question-and-answer session followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers.
