An Information and Orientation Session for Newly Admitted Students Was Held

To support the successful adaptation of newly enrolled students in the Department of History to university and departmental life, to provide information about academic processes, and to address issues of interest to students, an Information and Orientation Session was held. The session took place on 24 September 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Classroom D-111 and was organized by Acting Head of the Department of History, Professor Mehmet Mercan, together with Vice Heads of the Department, Associate Professor Gökçen Kapusuzoğlu and Dr. N. Betül Güney.

During the meeting, essential information that students may need throughout their university and departmental experience was presented comprehensively. In this context, students were informed about the structure and functions of the University’s academic and administrative units, the academic staff of the Department of History, and the Department’s educational and instructional framework. In addition, explanations were provided regarding opportunities for horizontal transfer, postgraduate education pathways, course completion requirements, and the academic progression system in order to assist students in planning their academic studies effectively.

Students were also informed about the University’s social facilities, as well as the services and resources offered by the University Library, enabling them to benefit more fully from campus life. Throughout the session, students’ questions concerning the University and the Department were addressed, and guidance was provided regarding the opportunities available to them and the procedures they should follow during their academic careers.

As the Department of History, we wish our new students every success in their university journey and hope that their educational experience will be productive, rewarding, and successful.
