Members of the Department of History at KMU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadimana Fidan and Asisst. Prof. Dr. N. Betül Güney, paid a visit to Şerife Esma Kaplan, one of the department’s graduates, within the scope of the activities of the “Graduation, Alumni Guidance, and Career Planning Commission.”

As part of the visit, they visited Prohomes Project and Investment Management Center, founded by Şerife Esma, where observations were conducted at the workplace, which operates in the fields of consultancy and project development for European Union and Erasmus Plus projects. During the meeting, detailed information was shared regarding European Union project calls, the project writing process, application procedures, budget planning, and project management. In addition, the discussion addressed the competencies required for students and recent graduates interested in this field, interdisciplinary working opportunities, and potential career paths.

The meeting also emphasized that graduates of the Department of History are not limited to academic careers, but may also find employment in various fields such as project development, cultural heritage, non-governmental organizations, the public and private sectors, international organizations, as well as cultural, artistic, and research-oriented institutions. It was noted that the analytical thinking, research, reporting, and written communication skills acquired through history education constitute a significant advantage across diverse professional sectors.

At the conclusion of the visit, it was planned to organize an event within the framework of career days with the participation of alumna Şerife Esma Kaplan, as well as to hold an alumni–student meeting. Through this event, it is aimed to enable current students to benefit from alumni experiences, gain concrete insights into career planning, and strengthen the ties between graduates and the department.

The Department of History at KMU continues its efforts to highlight the achievements of its graduates in various fields and to support students in their career planning processes.
